*-Have not assembled yet-* Very quick shipping – no major cosmetic defects – inlays and frets look great – needs some minor fret levelling- overall looks like super value for the price.
Only issue I found is the 12 string neck fit is loose to the body pocket (bolt on).
Don’t think it will be a huge issue to overcome that though. $349 bucks… should have bought a couple more!

Looks great. Everything seems to fit well during testing. I am on the final sanding stage on the body.
I am impressed with the amount of information on finishing and assembling this kit that Solo has on line. Videos ect.
I’m taking my time and trying not to hurry since it’s “the journey , not the destination that defines the trip”.
To be continued……

I have not begun building yet, however I wish to detail my experience so far. The purchasing experience was the best I have ever done online! Due to my addled brain, I had extreme difficultly getting my order accepted. Trust me, without embarrassing myself further, the trouble was ALL on MY end. The people at Solo spent a long time and much effort AFTER HOURS, to clear up the issue and succeeded in identifying my issue and never made me feel like the idiot I was. The kit shipped promptly and arrived in great shape. I have test fit most of the major components and everything fits WELL! Due to other demands on my time, I will not start construction until I have sufficient time and work area to devote to the project. With the quality of contents of the kit, I have no doubt that if I go slow and careful, I will have the guitar I wanted since I was a teenager! This entire experience has exceeded my expectations, THANK YOU Solo Guitars and your excellent staff! I will undoubtedly order other kits in the future!

Just getting started on this kit. Overall the kit arrived in good shape. The body and necks are in good condition and ready for finish work. For this kit (#144) the necks seem to fit well into the body’s neck pockets. The routing and drilling in the body and head stock are clean and well done. The fret board, inlay work and binding looks very nice, however you will need to do quite a bit of fret work. By measurement the frets appear to be the jumbo size though this isn’t confirmed in the product description. The fret ends stick well out past the binding are are quite sharp. The frets have not been leveled and I had to do quite a bit of sanding and subsequently fret crowning and polishing work to get them in shape. Since this is a DIY kit I did not expect the fret work to be complete, I just wanted make it known for anyone else that happens to read this. Also the tuning machines are not great. They are good enough to get you started, but if you plan to use this guitar routinely you’ll probably want to upgrade the tuners. The pots and switches are pretty much what you would expect – lower end inexpensive Asian versions. The pot knobs are attractive and are circular clear plastic with a black underside. Again if you plan to use the guitar routinely you might want to consider a electronics upgrade as well. Since I haven’t finished the guitar I can’t say much about the pickups other than they are uncovered open-coil humbuckers so one might expect a brighter sound than that of traditional covered humbuckers. I like a warmer sound so I’ll it is likely that I’ll swap the pickups out, but that’s a personal preference thing not a knock on the kit. Overall, with the pros and cons mentioned, I’d recommend the kit to a friend.

I am just about ready to tune and play. I used Gun oil as the finish and it has a great natural look. the issues I have run into ( however minor, were a bit challenging) The wiring supplied was too short to be practical and I had to rob from Peter to pay Paul, colour coding was inconsistent as well. The 12 String neck went right into place , the 6 string had to be ‘persuaded’. Unfortunately, the 2 necks are different colours.( highlighted by the fact i left them natural).
The 12 string strings were not identified , so I hope I have the right ones in the right place. we’ll see. cheers

Just received my kit recently. Did not take long for delivery once ordered. Went through all parts and pieces and everything was there. A quick dry fit showed the 6 string neck is a tight fit. Will be making some modifications and upgrades of my own. I’m not knocking the kit, this is just my vision of what I want. Am very excited to get started on it. Have called SOLO for some wiring questions and the guys were great and helpful steering me in the right direction. I’m sure they’ll be hearing from me some more. Cheers all…..

I have been a player for over 25 years and have done some of my own modifications over the years. I have never taken-on a build. Being a Led Zeppelin fan; I always dreamed of having a EDS-1275. The price tag has kept me away for such a novelty item…I don’t need one; but always wanted one… Even the price on copies kept me away until I saw the Solo Guitar kit for a very reasonable price. I was a little unsure of my skill level / ability to complete the build especially when this kit was rated with a 5 guitar “build Challenge level”…; but, at the price point; I figured that even if I destroyed it or could not complete the project that it was a worthy investment and a learning experience. Worst case; I got some spare parts for fixing other guitars…. Ordered the DSGK-10 Double Neck kit September 28th, 2023. It arrived a week later. The evening it arrived; I went through the un-boxing and checked all parts / the fit. Everything seemed to be just fine. I had a couple minor questions. I pretty much knew the answer; but wanted to verify. Customer service answered my questions right away. Overall build was very simple. I am not great at soldering/ wiring; but the schematic was super easy to follow; and I did just fine on the soldering…. Honestly the most challenging part of the build was putting on the strings where the two necks are next to each other. I used everything from the kit (no upgrades) other than copper shielding in the cavities.
Finished the build yesterday evening. Total build time about 18 hours (not counting waiting for paint / stain / oil to dry) I have received many compliments from people that have seen the finished product. Most ask “where did you buy that”?…They don’t believe me when I tell them that I finished it and built it… I look forward to taking-on another build in the future. Thank you Solo Guitars . I am very happy. Joe

The level 5 challenge is a bit silly to me. If you can wire one guitar up, you can wire this up. And the bolt on necks are way less nerve wracking than a set neck. All in all I love this guitar, especially after replacing the pickups. I was expecting to replace the tuners and the bridges as well, however mine never seems to lose its tuning, so I’ll hold off on that. I did have to shim the 12 string neck, but now they both play like a dream. Anyways, this kit is fantastic, and 13 year old me is very happy with 28 year old me’s decision to buy it.
